Single Window

Single Window Initiative (SWI) is a new software provided by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) that shares data between CBSA and other Participating Government Agencies (PGA) that has been transmitted from a customs broker to CBSA.  The SWI program combines the needs of nine government departments and 38 government programs into one interface that allows the commercial import data to be shared between the Government of Canada and trade community.   The SWI platform is a more efficient way of processing entries as it reduces the need paper processing by allowing license, permits, certificates and other documentation to be transmitted via the Integrated Import Declaration (IID) function in the system.  The SWI is an simplified process but also now provides CBSA and all Participating Government Agencies (PGA) the ability to review, assess and analyze trade partners at the click of a button.
